Sri Lanka, Pakistan and New Zealand - the teams that feature in the Sharjah tournament - are also pooled in the same group for the World Cup 2003 to be played in South Africa.

This tournament will also be a repeat of the 2001 event at the desert venue where the same three teams were involved. Sri Lanka emerged the winner.

In 2001, New Zealand fielded the youngest and inexperienced team, which lost all the matches and gained good experience. But recent competency promises a lot of keen contest.
