Thursday, December 5 2002 16:15 Hrs (IST)

Dhaka: Former captains Aminul Islam and Naimur Rehman were on Thursday included in a 15-member Bangladesh squad for two Test matches against the West Indies later this month.

Aminul, a middle-order batsman who led Bangladesh in its first Test match against India two years ago, and off spinner Naimur were recalled after being dropped from the recent tour of South Africa.

Mohammad Ashraful, who last year became the world's youngest Test centurion aged 16, and left-arm spinner Enamul Hoque, were also brought back after being ignored for the South African series.

Chief selector Aliul Islam promised an improved showing by his team despite Bangladesh losing the One-day series to the West Indies 2-0 on Tuesday.

"The players are learning all the time," Aliul said. "I expect a good display from them in the home series." The first Test will be played at Dhaka's Bangabandhu National Stadium from Sunday, followed by the second in Chittagong from Dec 16-20.

The West Indies are led by wicket-keeper Ridley Jacobs in the absence of Carl Hooper, who flew to Australia after the recent Indian tour for corrective surgery in his right knee.

Bangladesh: Khaled Mashud (captain), Anwar Hossain, Hannan Sarkar, Al- Shahriar, Mohammad Ashraful, Habibul Bashar, Sanwar Hossain, Aminul Islam, Alok Kapali, Naimur Rahman, Enamul Hoque, Tapas Baishya, Mohammad Rafique, Manjurul Islam and Talha Jubair.

Coach: Mohsin Kamal (Pakistan).
