Thatscricket: Columnists - Sunil Gavaskar
Sunil Manohar Gavaskar is like the great poet's "Brook". Players may come and players may go but Sunil will go on forever. This genius who lent the rare mixture of science and art to the sphere of batting, hung his magical willow in 1987. That marked the end of a romantic era in Indian cricket. The cricket world saluted him on that occasion. Sunny, as he is affectionately known as, just could not afford to be away from the game. His passion for cricket is such that he took the pen and the microphone to delight us with his sharp sense of observation and thought-provoking opinions. During his playing days itself, Gavaskar had authored a couple of books. After retiring from the sport, he became a full-fledged commentator and columnist. His views on the game are heard and read with respect, affection and admiration.
