Ajay Jadeja may never play for India again, but his father Daulatsinhji Jadeja firmly believes that his son is certainly not involved in any match-fixing. Ajay Jadeja recently visited Jamnagar and visited some of the worst quake affected areas with his father.

Daulatsinhji spoke to Thatscricket.com from his flat in Jamnagar whereby he reasserted his son's innocence. The following is an excerpt of the exclusive interview:

Are you disappointed that your son's name has been linked to the match-fixing allegations?

I am disappointed all the more because his name has been wrongly implicated in the match-fixing controversy. I firmly believe that my son is certainly not involved in such things.

The CBI report, however, seems to have made it clear that Ajay had received about 40 to 50 calls on his mobile and the caller was a bookie?

He must have called 60 times, but Ajay had absolutely no knowledge of that person. It is just like that he must have got the mobile number of my son and was calling repeatedly. Ajay replied to him only twice or thrice and that too only to say that he was calling the wrong man and asking him not to call again. Now tell me where lies his fault?

Do you believe that cricketers have no connections with bookies?

I can't say like that. Everybody knows that bookies do know cricketers.

What do you have to say about the ban that BCCI has imposed on Ajay?

Since my son is not involved in the scam, I certainly believe that this is not fair. Even the Madhavan report is not fair. After Madhavan completed his inquiry, the report was prepared and presented by only two members whereas the committee had three members. Did the third member agree to the contents of the report is still not answered.

What do you have to say about Ajay's decision to initiate legal proceedings?

He just wants to prove to the world that he is not guilty and I am sure he will win the battle.

Did you ever think that he ever gifted his wicket?

No, never. In fact he played very well when some of our senior players failed. Right from his childhood, he had tremendous attachment for the game. So there is no reason why he should indulge in such things and why he should be accused.

What about his marriage to Aditi Jaitley?

All I can say is that it is high time in life that he got married and settled down.

Will this marriage take place ?

Yes, I think so.
