The second season of DLF Indian Premier League (IPL) will be hosted by Cricket South Africa from April 10th, 2009 to May 29th, 2009. Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kings XI Punjab, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Deccan Chargers, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Dare Devils and Rajasthan Royals are the eight franchise teams taking part in the tournament.

Cape Town, Pretoria, Johanesburg, Durban, East London and Port Elizabeth are the six host cities for IPL-2 games with the opening ceremony scheduled to be held in Cape Town. In all, there will be 59 matches played with games starting at 4 pm and 8 pm IST.

Vijay Mallya, Preity Zinta, Shah Rukh Khan, Venkataram Reddy, Nita Ambani and Shilpa Shetty are the major IPL franchises.

IPL teams are coached by veterans like Ray Jennings, Tom Moody, Kepler Wessels, John Buchanan, Darren Lehman, Lalchand Rajput, Greg Shipped and Shane Warne.

The Inaugural match and final of the second edition of IPL are to be held at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town and the Wanderers in Johannesburg respectively on April 18 and May 24.
