Hobart: Pakistan paceman Shoaib Akhtar has been passed fit for the second cricket test against Australia starting in Hobart on Thursday. Akhtar was in doubt for the match because of an ankle injury but has been cleared to play.
Pakistan physiotherapist Dale Naylor said: ''He will play, believe me." "He fielded on Sunday (against South Australia) and after that I used a technique I have where the injury becomes more sore for 24 hours but is then a lot better than it originally was.
''Pakistan are expected to name their side tomorrow. Australian leg spinner Shane Warne is also certain to play despite suffering a bout of flu. Warne, who needs just 22 wickets to pass Dennis Lillee's Australian test record of 355 scalps, told reporters he expected to recover in time.
