Sydney: Indian cricket captain Sachin Tendulkar has pulled out of his team's warm-up for next week's first test against Australia.
Indian coach Kapil Dev said the master batsman had decided to skip the four-day match against New South Wales starting at the Sydney Cricket Ground tomorrow because it was likely to be the only break he would get during the 11-week tour.
India's selectors also left out teenaged off-spinner Harbhajan Singh even though both the SCG and the Adelaide Oval, the venue for next week's first test, favour slow bowling. ''We have five genuine fast bowlers and we are just trying to change our attitude back home also,'' Dev said.
NSW have also decided to field a weakened team with their Australian representatives, Steve and Mark Waugh, Michael Slater and Glenn McGrath, all taking the week off after completing a 3-0 series clean sweep over Pakistan.
