Normally, most sports disciplines involve a ball to conduct itsactivity. For example: hockey, football, basketball, volleyball, throwball, handball, tennis, golf, baseball, bowling, snooker, billiardsetc. So also in the game of cricket.

The game of cricket is played using a number of items and the ball isone of them.

A cricket ball is hard to feel at. It is made of cork and string, andcovered with leather. The leather covering consists of four pieces, fitted into two hemispheres. The two hemispheres are then stitchedtogether to form a ball. There is a seam that runs like an equator along the joining of the twohemispheres and the seam is slightly raised.

Traditionally the leather is dyed red with the seam left white. However, with the advent of day-night cricket, the colour of ball had to bechanged to white with a green seam.

The circumference of the ball is between 22.4 and 22.9 cms (8.81 to 9.00inches), and the ball weighs between 156 and 163 grams (5.5 to 5.75ounces).
