Bourda has the distinction of being the oldest Test venue in the Caribbean, and the only to feature on the South American mainland. In terms of the world scale, Bourda is the only ground below sea level, as it is surrounded by a moat.
The antique feel of the venue is epitomized by the wooden pavilion at fine leg. Stands include the Ladies Stand, the Rohan Kanhai Stand, and of course, the Mound. The Mound has come to be known as the party area, as it is an unprotected area and the source of music at the ground.
