Boland Bank Park staged its first international match in 1997 - an ODI between India and Zimbabwe, which ended in a thrilling tie. It also hosted an ODI between India and Kenya in 2001-02, in which India mauled Kenya by a mammoth 186 runs, racking up a huge 351-3 with Sachin Tendulkar hitting 147. This came a week after Kenya had bowled India out for 176, winning by 70 runs - completing a remarkable, and quite bizarre, turnaround in fortunes for both sides.
The ground itself is situated in picturesque surroundings, and supporters of Boland, or indeed of South Africa, can enjoy their cricket from one of the grass embankments surrounding the ground. As with many South African grounds, it is a fantastic place to watch cricket - the mountains and trees surrounding the ground make it a great place to be.
