Karachi: Off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq has left for the West Indies to join Pakistan for the best-of-three finals starting at Barbados on Wednesday.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) director Yawar Saeed also said, from Lahore, that opener Saeed Anwar would fly to the West Indies later this month for the three-Test series as he has nearly recovered from knee surgery.

''Saqlain will join the team in Barbados on Tuesday while Saeed Anwar will fly out on April 25 for the Test series which starts May 5,'' Saeed said.

He added that four of the 18 players now in the West Indies would return by Friday.

Mushtaq and Anwar returned from England last week after treatment for their injuries. Mushtaq underwent tests for a stomach illness while Anwar had surgery on his right knee.

Mushtaq did not play after the first Test against Sri Lanka five weeks ago while Anwar pulled out of the last Test at Karachi which Pakistan won, although Sri Lanka took the series 2-1.
