Dhaka: Former Pakistani skipper Javed Miandad arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday to help Bangladesh prepare for the upcoming Asian Test championships (ATC).

Miandad will assist current coach Trevor Chappell of Australia, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials said.

Bangladesh has already announced its 14-member squad for the championship with Naimur Rahman as the skipper. "I have fans in Bangladesh and I have had different roles, but this time the whole perspective is different," Miandad told reporters on arrival.

"I will try me best to share my experience with the Bangladeshi players, especially the batsmen and hope they will be benefitted from it."

The second Asian Test Championship will be held from September 2001 to January 2002. Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India are also scheduled to take part. Bangladesh, which was awarded Test status last year, has yet to win a Test match, although it beat Pakistan in the 1999 World Cup Limited Overs tournament in England.
