Bangalore: India Pistons and Chemplast, the two Chennai-based teams, entered the semifinals, posting easy victories in the All India invitation KSCA Diamond Jubilee cricket tournament for Coromandal trophy here on Monday.In the quarterfinals India Pistons defeated KSCA XI by five wickets, while Chemplast thrashed BPL by six wickets. Opting to bat first KSCA could muster only 183 for seven in the allotted 50 overs, with wicketkeeper batsman Rajshekar Shanbal scoring an unbeaten 45. Medium pacer Gagandeep Singh 2 for 35 and off-spinner M A Satish 2 for 25 were the most successful bowlers for India Pistons. In reply, after the target was reduced to 158 of 43 overs due to rain, India Pistons made 160 for five with 3.4 overs to spare. Promising middle-order batsman Satyajit Medappa made an unbeaten 51. In the other match, deciding to bat first BPL posted 210 in 49.4 overs, skipper Yere Goud top scored with a polished 57, his second successive half century. Medium pacer L Balajee bowled a tidy spell to claim 3 for 37 for the winners.In reply, after the target was revised 181 of 43 overs due to rain interruption,Chemplast scored 186 for four with 2.2 overs to spare.
