Melbourne: South Africa overcame initial hiccups to post a modest 206 runs for the loss of 7 wickets against Australia in the 2000 Super Challenge series at Melbourne's Colonial Stadium on Sunday. Late knocks from Nicky Boje and Shaun Pollock helped South Africa cross the 200-run mark after they were left reeling at 19 runs for 4 wickets in the initial stages of the innings. Glenn McGrath and Brett Lee were the pick of the bowlers for Australia and claimed three-wickets apiece.

Boje belted a blistering 28 runs off 22 balls with the help of two sixes, while Pollock scored 33 runs off 41 balls with two fours. Earlier, South Africa who won the toss and elected to bat where in deep trouble when they lost four wickets for 19 runs in the seventh over.Devastating initial bowling spells from Glenn McGrath and Brett Lee left South African batsmen reeling. Opener Andrew Hall edged a McGrath delivery to be caught by Mark Waugh at second slip for 1 run.Brett Lee who started off with a few no balls, found his rhythm soon.

In his third over, Lee struck twice claiming Jacques Kallis for 3 runs, caught by Gilchrist and veteran right-hander Daryl Cullinan for yet another duck. Gary Kirsten didn't last that much longer either. He was caught by Mark Waugh in slips for 9 runs off McGrath.Later, gritty batting displays by Lance Klusener and Neil McKenzie steadied the South African innings. Klusener know for his aggressive batting skills kept his cool and scored 49 runs (2 fours) off 74 balls before falling to a rising delivery from Brett Lee to be caught by Gilchrist.

The South African score read 118 for five wickets at the fall of Kulsener.McKenzie who played an anchor role in steadying the innings, departed in the next over. He scored 45 runs off 93 balls with three hits to the fence. Dippenaar scored 21 runs before getting run out.McGrath claimed three wickets in his allotted quota of 10 overs with four maidens.
