Harare: New Zealand ended the first day of the second Test match against Zimbabwe at a healthy 226 for four on Tuesday at the Harare Sports Club.New Zealand would have found themselves in an even better position had not opener Richardson been dismissed on 99 in the last over of the day.Opting to make first use of the wicket New Zealand did not start off as they would have liked to with opener Craig Spearman departing for two with the score board reading five. Sinclair and Richardson then put on 64 runs for the second wicket before Sinclair departed for 44 to hand Olonga his second wicket.

Skipper Fleming, however did not last long when he departed for nine reducing New Zealand to 91 for three.Nathan Astle then joined Richardson and together ground the spineless Zimbabwe attack to put on 135 runs for the fourth wicket, before Richardson was trapped leg before for 99 by Nkala.
