Karachi: All-rounder Craig White put on another gritty performance to take England to 335-6 at lunch on the fourth day of the third and final cricket Test against Pakistan at the National Stadium here on Sunday. At the interval, White was batting 33 not out and Ashley Giles was on 16, with the tourists 65 runs behind Pakistan's first innings total. Pakistan made 405 in their first innings. White followed up his 93 and 41 in the first two Tests with some useful hitting, taking full advantage of two dropped catches.

He hit three fours and a six off Saqlain Mushtaq. The tourists resumed at 277-4, with Michael Atherton on 117 and Graeme Hick on 6. England lost Hick off the fifth ball of the day when he hooked a rising one from Waqar Younis straight to Shahid Afridi at square leg. His paltry 18 was a reminder of his poor form in the series.

Pakistan captain Moin Khan faltered behind the stumps when he let off Craig White twice, first when he was on 6 and miscued a hook off Younis and then at 32 off Abdur Razzak. Pakistan's skipper gave Giles a lease of life on 2 off Abdur Razzaq. Khan made some amends by holding a low right-handed catch to dismiss centurion Michael Atherton off Abdur Razzaq when England were 309. Atherton's 125 came off 430 balls in nine hours and 39 minutes.
