Bangalore: Former India captain Mohammed Azharuddin, who had earlier been named in the squad, will not play for Hyderabad in the South Zone Ranji Trophy match against Karnataka scheduled to be held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium from November 1 to 4.Indian Test star V V S Laxman, who has been included for the one-off Test against Bangladesh from November 10 to 14, will lead the Hyderabad side. With Karnataka including their top international stars Javagal Srinath, B K Venkatesh Prasad and Sunil Joshi in the squad, Hyderabad may have a tough task on hand in their opening encounter.According to Hyderabad coach Arshad Ayub, Azharuddin is suffering a back injury and has been advised rest for "15 days" by the doctors. "Karnataka/ Hyderabad matches have always been competitive I expect the same from this encounter also. The wicket looks to be a decent batting pitch. There may be some extra moisture in the first hour and then it should settle down," Ayub told Thatscricket.com.Emphasising that the presence of Javagal Srinath and Venkatesh Prasad in the Karnataka ranks wouldn't be much of a bother, he said, "We always expected them to play and I don't see much of a problem for my boys. Srinath and Prasad may carry a lot of international exposure, but I'm sure my boys are also well equipped to handle the situation."Hyderabad have also decided on the playing 11 with Nanda Kishore and Daniel Manohar scheduled to open the innings. M Srinivas will make his debut for Hyderabad. It may be recalled that Mohammed Azharuddin, Ajay Jadeja and Nayan Mongia have not been considered for national duty too as their names had figured prominently in the investigations conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Income Tax Department in the match-fixing scandal. The CBI presented its report to Union Sports minister Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa at New Delhi on Monday. Though the contents of the report have not been made public, there has been a lot of speculation on the alleged involvement of a few players in the scam.Hyderabad:Nanda Kishore, D Manohar, V V S Laxman (captain), Venka Pratap, Vinay Kumar, Faiz Ahmed, M Srinivas, P Patwalkar, N P Singh, Venkatapathi Raju and Kanwaljit Singh. 12th man: Shivaji Yadav. Reserves: Anirudh Singh, Arjun Yadav and Ghouse Baba.
