New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday expressed its anguish at the startling facts brought out by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) report on the alleged match-fixing scandals in the One-day cricket series involving India and called for suitable and concrete measures by the Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) to prevent players from becoming prey to allurements.Party Vice President K Jana Krishnamurthy told newspersons that the BCCI, the autonomous body to control cricketing affairs, should take remedial measures and the Union Government should not intervene. The decision to ban the players for life should also be taken by the BCCI. It was the failure of BCCI that had led to the said state of affairs, he said.He said it was sad that many players had been found to have received money for throwing away matches at crucial junctures, disregarding the national prestige. The BCCI must immediately take action to put the house in order and evolve its own methods and ethics to bring back credibility to the game. The BJP felt that the players needed adequate motivation to play for the national honour and it was upto the BCCI to imbibe this spirit among the players. UNI
