Wellington: New Zealand Cricket said on Friday that they would set up an independent inquiry into the corruption allegations made in the Indian Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) report. The Indian report named nine former international captains, including New Zealand's Martin Crowe, among cricketers accused of having links of one sort or another with bookmakers.''While the report I've seen so far is incomplete, I have seen the sections which relate to Martin Crowe,'' New Zealand Cricket chief executive Christopher Doig said in a statement.''Martin had adamantly refuted the unsubstantiated allegations and has agreed to co-operate with New Zealand Cricket to inquire fully into the matter,'' he said.He said New Zealand Cricket was working to set the terms of reference and membership of the inquiry. ''It is important that this inquiry is both wide-ranging and all-encompassing as well as being seen to be conducted independently of New Zealand Cricket,'' Doig said.Crowe has admitted taking money for information, which he gave to a bookmaker he thought was a journalist paying him for a series of articles. Earlier in the week he told New Zealand media that he expected to be cleared of any wrongdoing in connection with match-fixing allegations.Crowe on Friday said through his lawyer that he would co-operate fully with NZ Cricket's inquiry.(c) Reuters Limited.
