New Delhi: Named in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) match-fixing report, Ajay Jadeja rubbished Azharuddin's reported statement that he "made" matches along with Nayan mongia and himself. "This statementis totally false," Jadeja said while talking to reporters at the Indian Women's Press Corps (IWPC) premises on Saturday.Expressing his dismay over Azhar's statement, Jadeja said, "I am at loss why Azharuddin has brought my name into the picture."He added, ''Azharuddin says that Ajay Gupta had fixed the Pepsi Cup matchbetween India and Pakistan at Jaipur and Nayan Mongia and I were Involved with him. However, the absurdity of the allegation against me can be gauged by the fact that I was the top scorer in that match. Moreover Azharuddin does not appear to have offered any evidence of any kind to back up his statements".Jadeja strongly refuted the reports that he broke down during the investigations. "I went to CBI headquarters thrice and was investigated for a total of over three hours and never once did I break down. Any way, does breaking down mean any admission of guilt'' he shot back to the persistent queries of mediapersons.Asked what he meant by saying that he has committed some wrong things in the past and is paying for it, Jadeja said the CBI officials told him of the consequences of the fact if public comes to know about the relationship with Rajesh Kalra. ''They asked how will you react. I replied I am already paying for it". Midway through the press conference, Shiv Sena activists stormed the IWPC and tried to disrupt the proceedings by shouting slogans against the player. Jadeja, the cricketer was whisked away by the journalists. The press conference resumed after the activists were chased away.Jadeja admitted that he knew Rajesh Kalra and Rattan Mehta, but denied having ever met Ramesh Gupta alias Uttam Chand or Mool Chand. Reading a prepared statement Jadeja said "I categorically deny that I have ever met Ramesh Gupta alias Uttam Chand as he claims I did in the Chola Sheraton. I knew him only as a fan and well wisher who used to call me, as I have also stated to the CBI."I categorically deny that I have ever provided him with any information about any aspects of the cricket matches that I have played which could be construed as match-fixing or the unwarranted or unethical passing on of information," he claimed."I categorically deny that I have ever been paid any sums of money by Ramesh Gupta alias Uttam Chand directly or indirectly. I categorically deny that I have ever received any money paid to me through hawala channels in Mumbai. No money has been paid to me through a Moolchand as alleged on page 51. I do not know any Moolchand," he continued."I accept that I occasionally spoke to Ramesh Gupta alias Uttam Chand but certainly not in the manner and to the extent implied by the list of 'random' sample of cell phone calls," he statedUNI
