Chennai: Tamil Nadu will enjoy the advantage of playing on home turf when they meet former champions Karnataka in the second South Zone Ranji Trophy league match from Wednesday. At least a first-innings lead will be crucial for both the teams clashing at the picturesque Chemplast cricket ground in the IIT campus as the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association have started preparations at the M A Chidambaram stadium in anticipation of staging a One-dayer against the touring Zimbabwe. Having secured just the first-innings lead in their opening match against Hyderabad, Karnataka will be under some pressure in their bid to force an outright win. But they will be without key bowlers, medium pacers, Javagal Srinath, Venkatesh Prasad, and left-arm spinner Sunil Joshi - all called up for national duty.All-rounder and India discard Vijay R Bharadwaj will be their key man especially as an off-spinner. J Arun Kumar, Mithun Beerala, Rowland Barrington and Sujith Somasundar, their main batsmen would have to rise to the occasion again. UNI
