Indore: It was indeed a unique sight, a sight hardly seen in Indian cricket. Yes those who love the game and love it with great passion were in for a pleasant surprise to see the chairman of selectors, past and present, talking to the young, energetic, vivacious and dedicated boys of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in the dressing room on Tuesday afternoon.Along with the present chairman of selectors, Mr Chandu Borde, Mr Polly Umrigar, Mr Raj Singh Dungarpur and Hanumant Singh were present in the dressing of the NCA boys on the eve of their match against the touring Zimbabwe team. They discussed the finer details of the game with the boys, who listened quite eagerly.Talking to reporters later, Mr Dungarpur said, "I don't know whether boys were inspired by our presence or not but we were really inspired by their commitment and we are convinced that in coming five years they will be ruling Indian cricket."Mr Dungarpur and NCA director Hanumant Singh became very emotional by the sheer fact that it is for the first time that a team like NCA is taking on a touring side in the first game. "History will be made and I will not at all surprised if NCA boys defeat Zimbabwe or at the end of the third day the honour will achieve a great honour," Mr Dungarpur said.Praising the exceptional fielding of the boys, Mr Dungarpur said that the present Indian team was just putting up 25 per cent of what the NCA boys were doing in the fielding department. "Their catching, stopping and sliding are exceptional," he added.Talking about the future plans of the NCA, he said that Tamil Nadu government had offer 200 acres of land at a very concessional rate and the piece of land was very flat, which was an added advantage. He also said that the Board had received a similar offer from KSCA but they hadn't shown the land yet.Talking about the venue of the Zonal Academies, he said that the venues in West, South, Central and East Zones had been finalised and the committee would soon decide about the venue of the North Zone, whether it should be Mohali or New Delhi.According to Mr Dungarpur, Mr Khanna of DDCA had said that everything was ready in Delhi and would like Mr Polly Umrigar and Mr Brijesh Patel (both members of the NCA committee) to visit the infrastructure and then take a decision.
