Chennai: A brilliant century by skipper and all-rounder Robin Singh (106) and his 129-run stand for seventh wicket with S Mahesh (36) powered Tamil Nadu to a big first innings total of 477 against Karnataka on the second day of the South Zone Ranji Trophy league tie on Thursday.Karnataka had made 103 for two with Barrington Rowland (46) and Sujith Somasunder at the crease. The onus will be on them to carry on the fight to force a first innings lead.After losing opener Arun Kumar (8) to Tamil Nadu medium pacer T Kumaran at the score of 32, Karnataka recovered well, thanks to a60-run stand for the second wicket in 97 minutes between opener Mithun Beerala 46 (5x4, 1x6) and Rowland.Tamil Nadu resumed at their overnight score of 284 for six and Robin Singh made the Karnataka bowlers to toil. Aashish Kapoor who came atthe fall of Mahesh's wicket boosted the Tamil Nadu total with a chanceless 62 (100m, 4x4, 1x6).
