Colombo: Sri Lanka on Friday announced their 16-member squad that will tour South Africa in the forthcoming series. Sri Lanka have chosen to side-step the experience of Aravinda de Silva and have gone ahead for the emerging talent in youngsters. The 16-man squad will be captained by Sanath Jayasuriya who not only led the team to a thumping win in Sharjah but is on a personal high. Both Hashan Tillekeratne and Aravinda de Silva have started the Premier Limited Overs Tournament in good form and one of them was widely expected to travel to South Africa. Sri Lanka will play three Test matches and six One-day internationals in the seven-week tour. Aravinda's name figuring in the recent CBI report would not have helped matters for the veteran. The fast bowling department sees the return of Dilhara Fernando. The 20-year-old fast bowler played in one Test match against Pakistan at the Sinhalese Sports Club. He forms part of a five man fast bowling unit that includes Chaminda Vaas, Nuwan Zoysa, Pramodya Wickramasinghe and young Kaushalya Weereratne. Team: Sanath Jayasuriya (captain), Marvan Attapattu, Russel Arnold, Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Avishka Gunawardane, Thillakarathne Dilshan, Romesh Kaluwithrana, Upul Chandana, Mutiah Muralitharan, Muthumudalige Puspakumara, Chaminda Vaas, Nuwan Zoysa, Dilhara Fernando, Kaushalya Weereratne, Pramodya Wickramasinghe
