Rains interrupts TNs bid against Karnataka

Chennai: With rain forcing frequent interruptions, Tamil Nadu's hopes of forcing an outright win were spoiled and the hosts gained five points as their South Zone Ranji Trophy league match against Karnataka ended in a draw on Saturday.Before the umpires called off the match after one inspection, Tamil Nadu, resuming their second innings at the overnight score of 77 without loss, reached 114 for in 237 minutes and 56.4 overs.They lost the wickets Rajat Bhatia (34), S Badrinath (48), Reuben Paul and R Satish, while S Mahesh remained not out on 11 (48 munts, one six). In 16 minutes of play before lunch, Karnataka medium pacer Mansoor Ali Khan dismissed three Tamil Nadu batsmen in the space of 14 for just six runs for figures of three for 36. Karnataka gained three points. Tamil Nadu will take on Hyderabad in Hyderabad, while Karnataka will play Andhra on home turf in their next engagements.Hyderabad score innings victoryMeanwhile, hosts Hyderabad posted a massive innings victory over Kerala and gained eight points in another match at the NFC the NFC ground, Hyderabad. Kerala, resuming their overnight total of 210 for four in the second innings, were packed off within 95 minutes after adding 68 minutes to their score. By bowling out the visiting team for 278, Hyderabad registered a victory by an innings and 46 runs.This is Hyderabad's first outright win of the season. They have now 11 points to their credit, while Kerala have five points from two games each.
