Perth: West Indies crashed to a seven-wicket defeat to Western Australia on Sunday in their first serious match on their tour of Australia. Western Australia sealed victory after lunch on the fourth and final day when they cruised to 70-3 after being set just 68 runs for victory.Trailing by 226 on the first innings, West Indies were dismissed for 293 in their second innings after resuming at the WACA on Sunday at 266-6.Any hopes that West Indies might set a more challenging target evaporated almost immediately when captain Jimmy Adams departed for 44, adding just three runs to his overnight score. He fell to the medium pace of veteran all-rounder Tom Moody.Moody also trapped Ramnaresh Sarwan leg before wicket for 12 to finish with impressive figures of 4-14 before Brendon Julian dismissed tail-ender Colin Stuart to complete the innings. West Indies fast bowler Kerry Jeremy did not bat after breaking his jaw in the first innings.Western Australia lost three quick wickets in pursuit of victory with opener Mike Hussey (11) and Test batsmen Adam Gilchrist (six) and Justin Langer (five) all departing cheaply before Damien Martyn (25 not out) and Simon Katich (18 not out) steered them to a comfortable victory.West Indies, now, travel to Alice Springs on Monday to prepare for Tuesday's One-day match against Northern Territory XI. The first of the five Tests against Australia begins in Brisbane on November 23. (c) Reuters Limited. Click here for Restrictions
