Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expressed shock on Wednesday at a report the Indian government has blocked a proposed cricket tour to Pakistan by the Indian national team.''I have just heard it from reliable sources and I am shocked that despite the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) willingness, the intended tour has now been aborted with the order of the Sports ministry in India,'' PCB president General Tauqir Zia said.An official of the Sports ministry said in New Delhi the government had blocked the visit. ''The tour is off,'' said the official, who did not wish to be identified.India have not played a full Test series in Pakistan since 1989 and the tour had remained in doubt due to political tensions between the two countries over the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir. The India team was due to play three Tests and five One-day Internationals in Pakistan from December to February. Over the past decade, the Indian team travelled to Pakistan only once, for a One-day series two yearsago.Pakistan broke the deadlock between the two nations when they toured India for a two-Test series in 1999, after a gap of 12 years. ''We will now have to reconsider our cricketing relationship with India and we will make an official complaint to the ICC,'' Tauqir Zia said.''The cancellation of the tour means that we will now not play them in Sharjah in April and also their participation will be in doubt in the next Asia Cup and Asian Test championship. We will organise both the events whether India participates or not,'' Tauqir Zia said.''We will lose lots of money because of the Indian Sports ministry decision not to tour Pakistan,'' he said.(c) Reuters Limited.
