Lahore: Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq admitted he felt the strain as he sent down 74 overs for career-best figures of eight for 164 during England's first innings in the first Test.''This is the highest number of overs I have bowled in any class of cricket,'' said Saqlain after England declared their innings at 480 for eight at lunch on the third day.West Indies' Sonny Ramadhin holds the record for the most overs bowled in a Test innings, with 98 against England at Edgbaston in 1957.The 23-year-old Saqlain said he was not disappointed to be denied the chance of taking all ten wickets. Only leg-spinner Abdul Qadir, who captured nine for 56 against England at the same venue 13 years ago, has returned better figures for Pakistan.''I do not play for records and did not mind England declaring. I may have taken 10 wickets in an innings, I may not have. I am not the one for statistics,'' Saqlain said.''The England batsmen batted sensibly and with authority to make a huge score. Now Pakistan will have to bat with as much guts to get anywhere near England's score.''I am hopeful that Pakistan, with the batting talent at their disposal, can make a big score and save the Test. At the other end we had a world-class spinner in Mushtaq (Ahmed) but England batted well.''Saqlain, who helped English county Surrey to win last season's championship by taking 66 wickets, has taken 124 wickets in 29 Tests.
