Hussain to miss game against Board XI

Lahore: Injured England captain Nasser Hussain is to miss the tour match against a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) XI due to start at Bagh-e-Jinnah stadium on Thursday.

"Hussian has no serious injury but we decided to rest him for the three-day game," team's media relation manager Andrew Walpole told AFP. Hussian suffered a blow on his right wrist on the last day of the first Test against Pakistan and is recovering fast.Walpole said batsman Michaeal Vaughan had nets on Wednesday but a final decision on him will be taken on Thursday. Vaughan missed the first Test due to a calf injury but has progressed well.

Pace bowler Dominic Cork flew back to England on Tuesday night after failing to recover from a back problem.England drew the first Test in Lahore last week. The second Test in Faisalabad starts from November 29. Pakistani selectors have left teenage leg-spinner Danish Kaneria out of the squad for the three-day game. Kaneria, who has claimed 36 wickets in the current domestic season, is expected to make his debut in the second Test. International off-spinner Shoaib Malik is to lead the PCB XI. AFP
