Port Elizabeth: Overnight batsman Sinclair and O'Connor defied South Africa for close to two hours, before O'Connor departed a couple of over before lunch, to take New Zealand to 276 for eight at the Crusaders on Sunday.Resuming at the overnight score of 206 for seven the Kiwis displayed a lot of character to add a further 70 runs and thereby giving the New Zealand total a touch of respectability. Sinclair in particular played excellent cricket and in the process became the first New Zealander to record a century against South Africa after their re-entry. Connor too must be complemented for his defiant 20, which enabled the Kiwis to string a valuable partnership.
If Sinclair continues in the same vein New Zealand could end up with a more than decent total with a little help from the tailenders.Sinclair's unbeaten knock of 138 contained 23 boundaries and consumed 305 deliveries while O'Connor's 20 was compiled of 92 balls with a single four. O'Connor was eventually dismissed by a beauty from Kallis when Connor found his furniture disturbed shouldering arms to a pretty wide delivery.
