"BCCI correct in handing out life ban"

Bhopal: G S Anand, regional director of the Sports Authority of India, Patiala, has described as ''correct'' the BCCI's decision to ban former captain Azharuddin and Ajay Sharma for life.''Indiscipline in sports will not be tolerated at any cost,'' he told UNI here.Mr Anand, who was here to participate in the inaugural function of the 31st national rural sports competition, which commenced at the T T Nagar Stadium, said the image of the country had been tainted in the aftermath of the match-fixing episode. The decision of placing a five- year ban on Ajay Jadeja, Manoj Prabhakar and former physiotherapist Ali Irani was also ''apt and appropriate'', he added. UNI
