Tendulkar likely to play in Deodhar final

Lucknow: Master batsman Sachin Tendulkar will be seen in action during the final match of the Deodhar Trophy to be played on December 21. This match has been declared to be played as a ''benefit" for former Ranji player Neeru Kapoor by the Uttar pradesh Cricket association. Organising committee vice-president Navneet Sehgal told reporters on Saturday that the match would be played on a 50 overs a-side basis.He said that Mr Kapoor had a talk with Sachin Tendulkar at the Amausi airport on Saturday morning before the Indian team left for Kanpur for the fourth one-dayer against Zimbabwe. Tendulkar promised to be with the West Zone team, if it qualifies for the final.Deodhar trophy matches will start at Kanpur on December 15. The quarter-final is slated to be played between South Zone and East Zone. The winner would play against the North Zone on December 17 in the first semi-final, while the second semi-final will be held between Central Zone and West Zone on December 19.Mr Sehgal said that talks were on with Doordarshan sports channel for live coverage of the match.
