New Delhi: Former captain Kapil Dev is yet to confirm whether he will appear on Saturday before Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Special Commissioner K Madhavan, who has been asked by the BCCI to examine the report of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on match-fixing."I have not heard from Kapil Dev yet whether he is appearing on December 6," Mr Madhavan, a former joint director of the CBI, told IANS.He said Ajit Wadekar, another former captain, who had been asked to appear on Sunday, had requested that this be postponed by a day. "As he (Wadekar) told me he had a prior appointment, he would not be able to make it onSunday. So he will now be appearing on January 8 (Monday)," Mr Madhavan said.Mr Madhavan said the Board had asked him to examine both Kapil Dev and Wadekar as their names had appeared in the CBI report, which also mentioned that there was no evidence of match-fixing against the two.Earlier, Mr Madhavan had examined former captain Mohammad Azharuddin and cricketers Ajay Jadeja, Nayan Mongia, Manoj Prabhakar, Ajay Sharma and former team physiotherapist Ali Irani, who had been named by the CBI for throwing matches. Based on his report, the BCCI had slapped life bans on Azharuddin and Sharma and five year bans on Jadeja, Prabhakar and Irani, while exonerating Mongia.India Abroad News Service
