Johannesburg: South African left-arm spin bowler Nicky Boje will no longer play for the English county Leicestershire in the coming summer season. The county club wanted Boje for the entire season, but this was not possible because of South Africa's forthcoming tour to the West Indies.Boje told the Afrikaans weekly 'Rapport' that Leicestershire had wanted him there at the start of the English cricket season, because that was when they played most of their One-day games. But Boje, the star of the second Test between South Africa and Sri Lanka at the Newlands ground, in which he took four wickets for 28, said that perhaps he could go and play in England next year."Next year South Africa is not going on tour early in the year. Maybe then I can go and play for one of the English clubs, because I really believe that a season in circumstances different to those at home will do wonders for my performance," he said.Earlier, Boje's teammate Jacques Kallis had also declined a similar offer from the English club Glamorgan for the same reasons. There are rumors that Lancashire is attempting to sign up opener Boeta Dippenaar, one of the newest additions to the South African squad, as its overseas player for the season.India Abroad News Service
