Inter City Youth cricket series to commence from Jan 22

Chennai: Teams from Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Calcutta, Chennai and defending champions Delhi comprising 100 schools and 2000 young players of under-16 years will be vying for top honours in the third Pepsi Inter City Youth 40-overs a side cricket series to be held here from January 22 to 31.
Former India captain K Srikkanth and stumper Bharath Reddy told newsmen on Monday that former national stars, including Shivlal Yadav, Roger Binny, Madan Lal and Saba Karim would be giving a helping hand
in conducting the tournament.
They said the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had assured that its selectors will watch the matches to spot talent at junior level. The round robin league phase of the tournament would be played on matting wickets while the final on turf wicket.
The intra-city competition would preceded the Pepsi Youth Cricket Series, which would be held from January 9 to 16 in which 16 Chennai-based schools would participate to qualify for the inter city tournament.
