Mohali: An unbeaten 88-run knock by Virender Sehwag and his sixth wicket 105-run partnership with Pankaj Dharmani (28 not out) helped North Zone score 217 runs in their first innings against West Zone's 284 at close on the third and penultimate day in the Duleep Trophy league match here on Saturday.It was the first time that the match started on time after the first and second day were restricted to 30 and 46 overs respectively due to dense fog playing spoil sport. At one stage, North Zone were struggling at 74 for four. Opener Akash Chopra, however, steadied their innings, hitting 54 of 121 balls in his 173- minute stay. I R Siddiqui claimed three wickets for the West, conceding 79 runs while one wicket each was taken by Zaheer Khan and S R Saxena, at the cost of 47 and 65 runs respectively. West Zone, resuming at the overnight score of 174 for five, added 110 runs before being sent back to the pavilion, 25 minutes before lunch. Nehra and Surinder Singh were the most successful bowlers for the East, taking four wickets each at the cost of 103 and 80 runs respectively. The other wickets were shared by Gagandeep Singh and R S Sodhi, who gave away 47 and 27 runs respectively. UNI
