New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday issued a stern warning to players not to ignore domestic cricket tournaments if they wanted to be considered for the national team."The players will ignore the domestic cricket-Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy and Deodhar trophy at their own peril" BCCI president Dr A C Muthiah told reporters after the Working Committee meeting."The Working Committee took a very serious view of non-participation of some senior players in Ranji and Duleep trophy this season," Dr Muthiah said. "This will not be tolerated. In future they will have to participate in these tournaments, otherwise they will not be considered for the national squad," he added.The BCCI chief said this warning is applicable to all players not withstanding their status. He said in case player is not in a position to play in these tournaments, he will have to give the reason in writing to the BCCI secretary.Dr Muthiah said the Working Committee decided that in case a player fails to inform the Board secretary, he would not be considered for national selection.
