New Delhi: Buoyed with a spectacular win against East Zone, Vikram Rathod-led North Zone would leave no stone unturned to make the top grade when they take on Central Zone in their last Duleep Trophy league tie at the Feroze Shah Kotla Ground here on Thursday. The vital first innings lead against South and West and a stunning 237-run victory over East kept North Zone at the head of the pack with 18 points in three games. With the psychological edge over the rivals who have come here with eight points in their kitty in two contests, Rathod looked confident to put up a positive showing against the rivals. The shrewd skipper has all the reasons to cherish his views as every top order batsmen of North Rathod himself, Akash Chopra, Virender Shewag, Dinesh Mongia are profusely among runs. Delhi all-rounder Shewag, who have impressed the National selectors with two centuries in the first two encounters of the league, needs one more fine knock to propel himself into National team reckoning. North pace bowling looks to be in good hands. Surinder Singh of Jammu and Kashmir has been impressive with wickets galore. Ashish Nehra of Delhi will partner him with young all-rounder Reetinder Singh Sodhi lending support. The team has three spinners in Delhi left-arm tweaker Rahul Sanghvi and Punjab off spinners Harbhajan Singh and Sarandeep Singh to provide variation in the bowling department. UNI
