Chennai: "We are looking at the spin department very carefully," Indian coach John Wright said on Wednesday. Talking to newsmen after presenting trophies to the winners and runners-up of the Pepsi Under-16 inter-city Cricket Championship here, he said absence of ace leggie Anil Kumble was a setback. However, "We have seven spinners in the probables announced for the camp. we are looking at this department very carefully," he added. The camp, which will be interspersed with the Challenger Trophy, would be held from February 6 to 10 and from 16 to 20. The Challenger series would be held here from February 12 to 15. The seven spinners named in the 25 probables to pick the Indian team for the Australian series included four left-arm spinners - Rahul Sanghvi, Murali Kartik, Sunil Joshi, Venkatapathi Raju, two off spinners - Harbhajan Singh, Sharandeep Singh - and a sole leg spinner W D Balaji Rao. "The camp is basically to plan the preparation for the series," Wright said. "We can sit down and have a chat with the players, talk about the possibilities on how to play and prepare for the series," he added. Asked whether he had a chat with Skipper Saurav Ganguly after the probables were announced, Wright said, "I was at the meeting along with Saurav. It was a very thorough meeting and we discussed in depth. I am happy with the list of probables," he added. However, he said players who are not in the camp, could also make it to the Indian team for the Australian series. "Though not in probables, if some players perform well in the warm up matches, they can press their claim for a berth in the team," he added.
