Kolkata: Former Test opener Pankaj Roy died here early on Sunday after a protracted illness. He was 74. Roy had an attack late last year. He is survived by wife and three sons. Roy is the holder of world record for first wicket partnership along with Vinoo Mankad scoring 413 against New Zealand in Chennai in 1950-51 series. He captained India in one Test match.He was also the former Sheriff of Calcutta.UNIExtras:
