Benoni: Allan Donald was taken to hospital after being hit on the head by a ball while batting for Free State in a South African provincial match on Sunday. However, United Cricket Board of South Africa communications manager Bronwyn Wilkinson said she had spoken with Donald and he had assured her he was ''fine'', having suffered a ''mild concussion''.Wilkinson said Donald had undergone a brain scan, which had shown no sign of bleeding on the brain.Donald had scored 13 in Free State's second innings on the last day of their match against Easterns when he ducked into a rising delivery from Easterns paceman Andre Nel and was hit above the left ear.He took several minutes to regain his composure, but when Nel bowled another rising ball later in the over, Donald stumbled and fell in trying to avoid it. Clearly in distress, he had to be treated for several minutes on the field before Free State officials helped him off and he was sent to a nearby hospital. Nel, who said afterwards Donald was his hero, stood at his bowling mark in tears as Donald was treated the second time.(c) Reuters Limited. Click here for Restrictions
