Kolkata: Asian Cricket Foundation(ACF), which was to hold a tri-nation cricket series, among Pakistan, Bangladesh and India, at Sharjah has called off the tournament, ACF chairman Jagmohan Dalmiya said here on Monday. He said the series scheduled to be held from February 8 to 11 had been called off as ACF was yet to get any confirmation from the Indian and Pakistani Cricket Boards, though Bangladesh Cricket Board had confirmed their willingness to play in the series. Asked if they would hold the series if they got the permission later, Mr Dalmiya said it would not be possible to hold the series later as ACF would be too cramped for time. ''We tried to raise funds for a good cause but have to drop the idea as the ACF failed to get the official permission from the Indian and Pakistan Cricket Boards,'' Mr Dalmiya said.Mr Dalmiya, however, thanked the sponsors and organisers who following ACF's request had agreed to help the noble cause.
