Mumbai: Sandeep Patil, coach of the Kenyan team, has supported his association's extreme step of sacking eleven top players of the national team after they went on strike demanding wage increase. Patil, in an interview here, said the players did not take him in to confidence otherwise he would have stopped them from making such demands.''The players kept the move a secret from me and after I had discussion regarding the forthcoming tours to Bangladesh and India I was informed by the manager about their strike,'' he was quoted as saying. The dismissal of the top players, including skipper Maurice Odumbe, will push back Kenyan cricket by more than five years, Patel lamented. Now he will concentrate on picking juniors to be trained at various academies in India.
