Chennai: Air India began their campaign in the South Zone women's cricket championship with a 65-run victory over Karnataka at the Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute ground on Monday.Air India, riding on the efforts of international and former India skipper Purnima's Rau effort, scored 173. Purnima Rau top scored on 51 runs. Mamatha Maben ( Thatscricket.com), Deepika and Shilpa claimed two wickets apiece.Karnataka, in reply, could muster only 108 with Mamatha top scoring on 36. Tamil Nadu scored a six-wicket victory over Kerala in another match. Kerala were bowled out for 142 and Tamil Nadu made 143 for four.
