Dhaka: Ten cricket teams from across Asia are taking part in the Under-17 Asia Cup which began on Thursday after the Indian team was finally given government permission to fly to the tournament.Host Minister for Sports Obaidul Qauder declared the 10-day tournament open at Dhaka's Bangabandhu National Stadium before a group of former cricket stars and the participating teams.Four test playing nations - India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh - are taking part alongside six associate member countries - UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Nepal, Singapore and Malaysia.The first ICC/ACC U-17 Asia Cup 2000 tournament was held last year in Pakistan.The Indian team will arrive in the Bangladesh capital on Friday after receiving the permission from the government in New Delhi on Wednesday, event manager Mahmudul Huq Manu told reporters on Thursday.In the opening day's three 45-over matches, Sri Lanka out played Oman by 10 wickets, Pakistan smashed a 150-run win against Kuwait and Bangladesh beat Nepal by seven wickets.Copyright AFP 2000
