Chennai: Tamil Nadu on Friday scored an upset victory over champions Andhra Pradesh but the result however did not have a bearing on AP's final standing. The final day's loss saw AP tie on the points tally with both Air India, both finishing their four outings with six points. However, AP got to be placed higher as it had downed Air India in their league encounter. As a result Air India had to be satisfied with the runners-up position. The third and the final spot - for qualifying for the Nationals - went to Karnataka, which also tied with Tamil Nadu on the points tally with four points from four encounters. But having beaten Tamil Nadu in the league encounter it stood to qualify.
