Dhaka: Two people died and eight were injured when violence broke out in central Bangladesh over a cricket match between two rival villages, police said on Saturday. A 25-year old pro-government youth activist and a 60-year old die-hard cricket fan were stabbed to death after a disputed decision by an umpire stopped the game, Chandpur district police said. As the news of violence on the cricket ground spread, supporters of the village of Jajira ran amok in the rival village of Shatnol, resulting in the flare spreading into the neighbouring villages. Police forces have been deployed fearing further clashes. Meanwhile, police have arrested 10 persons alleged to be involved in the incident.
