Colombo: Former Sri Lanka Cricket captain Arjuna Ranatunga and his brother Prasanna Ranatunga on Wednesday appeared in a local court for an identification parade before a magistrate in connection with the school children assault case. The Ranatunga's were accused of assaulting some students of the Asoka Mahavidyalaya in Central Colombo after a cricket ball, lofted from the school playground, landed in Ranatungas' house.The students had charged the Ranatunga family members and their staff with brutally assaulting them.Arjuna's lawyer Kalinga Indraprastha said this evening that his client is in the midst of an identification parade.The students had boycotted their classes, demanding immediate arrest of the cricketer. Arjuna had surrendered to the police last week soon after his return from Kenya, where he had gone for a charity match. UNI
