Colombo: The Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka is confident of holding its annual general body meeting (AGM) as scheduled on March 31 despite an enjoining order by a district court here. The court on Monday issued an order directing the Cricket Board to suspend the annual general body meeting on a petition filed by Mr Summit Perera, a former candidate for the post of Cricket Board president, who had challenged the validity of the notice for the meeting on March 31.The petitioner had said the election of office bearers to the Board should be suspended as the annual report and audit account statement along with the list of members were not circulated by the Board a month in advance of the meeting.''We are aware that an enjoining order has been granted, but we will be seeking clarification on it before Friday and at the moment, we are confident of conducting the election as scheduled,'' incumbent Board president Thilanga Sumatipla said.Sumatipala is the only contestant for the post of president in the election. In another development, the Board's Executive Committee took a unanimous decision to officially terminate the services of ChiefExecutive Dhamika Ranatunga, who was suspended because of misconductfour months ago. Former Sri Lankan Cricket captain Anura Tennekoonwas appointed in his place. Dhamika Ranataunga is the brother of former cricket captain Arjuna Ranatunga. (c) Reuters Limited.
