Kolkata: Tata Iron and Steel Company has no plans to sponsor any cricket Test or the Indian cricket team, TISCO Managing Director Dr Jamshed J Irani said here on Monday. In an informal chat, Dr Irani said ''we are sponsoring cricket players individually like Indian skipper Saurav Ganguly and others. But we don't have any plan to sponsor Indian cricket or any Test match.'' Earlier, sources had hinted that the steel major could sponsor cricket matches following withdrawal of cigarette major Indian Tobacco Company from the sponsorship of Indian cricket team. Besides Saurav, many international cricket players are employed in TATA house and emergence of cricket in Bihar was possible due to active patronage of TISCO.
